Admans shining as rookie

Aliah Admans is hammering home what she means to the Windsor Lancers women's volleyball team. The London Saunders Secondary grad threw down 33 kills during last weekend's doubleheader against the University of Toronto.

"She's come in here and done a great job." said head coach Lucas Hodgson.

It was the second best weekend of Aliah's rookie campaing with the Lancers. She is currently 5th in the OUA with 19 service aces and 9th in overall kills with 124.

Admans says her transition in Windsor has been seamless. "I knew most of the girls on the team already so it was very comfortable for me and my brother is here."

Aliah also has family in Windsor which helped her settle in quicker. "My whole mom's side is from here. My cousins are here so every year we'd come up here for Christmas, Easter, all those type of things. It feels comfortable."

The Lancers host Guelph Friday and Saturday at the Toldo Recreation Complex.

"Another great resource for local sports produced by a person that has been invested in local sports for decades."

This is why...

Powerplay Sports was born while on a trip to Italy in the summer of 2018. Walking through a charming pedestrian underpass reminded me of being in the tunnel at the University of Michigan in the early part of my career. That feeling led to thoughts of Windsor Lancers football camp opening in three weeks and all of the fall sports that weren't going to be covered because of cuts to local sports coverage by legacy media.

With the support of a loving wife and family, I decided to create Powerplay Sports as a passion project.

I've come across some great people who have helped capture the essence of our community throughout the years like Tony Techko, Tony Doucette, Scott Scantlebury, Dom Papa, Steve Bell, Will Hill, Jim Parker and Mary Caton to name a few.

Please spread the word and follow along here or on social media so we can continue having the priviledge of highlighting our athletes, our community.
